什麼是基數詞什麼是序數詞

基數詞是指描述事物數量的多少的數詞，在數學上的理解是可以比較大小的數。序數詞是表示順序的數詞，主要在英語語法中講到，在漢語中表示為“第幾”，在描述出生日期時，也會用到。

一、基數詞：

1、表示形式：

①1-10：one、two、three、four、five、six、seven、eight、nine、ten．

②11-19：eleven、twelve、thirteen、fourteen、fifteen、sixteen、seventeen、eighteen、nineteen．

③在20-99的整數幾十中，除twenty、thirty、forty、fifty、eighty為特殊形式外，sixty、seventy、ninety都是其個位數形式後添加後綴-ty構成。表示幾十幾時，在幾十和個位基數詞形式之間添加連字符“-”。

示例：twenty-one（21）、seventy-six（76）。

④百位數個數基數詞形式加“hundred”，表示幾百，在幾十幾與百位間加上and。

示例：a hundred and one（101）、three hundred and twenty（ 320 ）。

⑤千位數以上 從數字的右端向左端數起，每三位數加一個逗號。

從右開始，第一個逗號前的數字後添加 thousand。

示例：two thousand six hundred and thirty-eight（2,638）。

第二個逗號前面的數字後添加million。

示例：sixteen million two hundred and fifty thousand and thirty-four（16,250,034）。

第三個逗號前的數字後添加 billion。然後一節一節分別表示，兩個逗號之間最大的數為百位數形式。

示例：five billion，two hundred and thirty-seven million，one hundred and sixty-six thousand，two hundred and thirty-four（5,237,166,234）。

⑥基數詞在表示確切的數字時，不能使用百、千、百萬、十億的複數形式；但是，當基數詞表示不確切數字，如成百、成千上萬，三三兩兩時，基數詞則以複數形式出現。

示例：There are hundreds of people in the hall.

翻譯：大廳裏有數以百計的人。

2、複數形式：

①有時兩個複數形式的基數詞連用可寫為：hundreds of thousands of,tens of hundreds of 等等。

示例：They went to the theatre in twos and threes．

翻譯：他們三三兩兩地來到了劇院。

②表示人的不確切歲數或年代，用幾十的複數形式表示。

示例：He became a professor in his thirties.

翻譯：他三十多歲時成為了教授。

二、序數詞。

主要縮寫形式：

①1-10：first、second、third、fourth、fifth、sixth、seventh、eighth、ninth、tenth.

②11-20：eleventh、twelfth、thirteenth、fourteenth、fifteenth、sixteenth、seventeenth、eighteenth、nineteenth、twentieth.

③21-30：twenty-first、twenty-second、twenty-third、twenty-fourth、twenty-fifth、twenty-sixth、twenty-seventh、twenty-eighth、twenty-ninth、thirtieth.其中1st、2nd、3rd為特殊形式，其它的都是阿拉伯數字後加th。

句法功能：

序數詞在句中可作主語、賓語、定語和表語。

1、做主語：

例句：The second is what I really need.

翻譯：第二個是我真正需要的。

2、做賓語：

例句：He chooses the second.

翻譯：他挑選了第二個。

3、作定語：

例句：We are to carry out the first plan.

翻譯：我們將執行第一個計劃。

4、做表語：

例句：She is the second in our class.

翻譯：在我們班她是第二名。

序數詞與the的運用：

在英語中，使用序數詞時前面要加定冠詞the，但是，在下面的情況下則不加the：

1、當序數詞前有形容詞性物主代詞或名詞所有格修飾時，序數詞前不用the。

例句：Mother was my first teacher in my life.

翻譯：媽媽是我生命中的第一個老師。

2、當表達分數時，序數詞前不用the。

例句：One fifth of the students here are from the country.

翻譯：這兒五分之一的學生來自農村。

3、當表達“又一，再一”時，序數詞前不用the，但可加不定冠詞。

例句：Please give me a second chance.

翻譯：請再給我一次機會。

4、當表達“年月日”時，序數詞前不用the。

例句：He was born on June 6th,1974.

翻譯：他出生在1974年6月6日。

5、當序數詞在句中作狀語時，序數詞前不用the。

例句：I finished the work first.

翻譯：我最先完成那項工作。

6、當表達比賽中獲得的名次時，序數詞前不用the。

例句：She stands first in her class.

翻譯：她在班上成績排名第一。

7、當表示某人的多少歲生日時，序數詞前不加the。

例句：Mary's twelfth birthday.

翻譯：瑪麗的十二歲生日。
