must的否定句

改為否定句時，通常變為don't/doesn't have to或者don't/doesn't need to或needn't do或can't.

因為must的否定形式mustn't意思已經變為千萬別，不再表示不必須的意思。

對於must 開頭一般疑問句，若要作否定回答，可用needn’t，不用mustn’t——因為mustn’t表示“不能”“不準”，用它來回答“我必須……嗎”這類疑問句意思不匹配。

—Must I clean all the rooms? 

這些房間我都得清掃嗎?

—No, you needn’t. 

不必(全部都清掃)。
